Marc Citrin Obtains Fifth Defense Verdict for SACS in 2019

In April 2019 Marc Citrin obtained a defense verdict in Nassau County against claims that a failure to treat slow burning myocarditis in a 61-year-old during a four-year course of treatment resulted in the need for a heart transplant which would have otherwise have been unnecessary. Upon pathologic inspection the explanted heart was found to have degeneration of the heart muscle secondary to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, not cardiac atherosclerotic disease or ischemia as plaintiff’s expert claimed was untreated. The jury agreed, and returned a unanimous verdict in 25 minutes.
