Associate Attorney – Medical Malpractice Defense (1-3 years)
Shaub, Ahmuty, Citrin & Spratt, LLP (“SACS”) is currently seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of litigation experience to join our Healthcare and Litigation Strategy team. This is an excellent opportunity for a developing attorney who is interested in gaining substantial hands-on experience and building a career in litigation defense. Salary is $105,000 to $150,000-plus, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Taking depositions, including plaintiff depositions and the depositions of non-party witnesses.
- An interest in learning to defend physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers during depositions.
- Drafting motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
- Managing all aspects of written discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document demands, and other discovery requests.
- Attending court conferences, mediations and oral arguments, and communicating effectively with judges, court personnel, clients, and opposing counsel.
- Assisting with case strategy, legal research, and trial preparation.
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the State of New York. Admission to the federal courts is desired, but not required.
- 1–3 years of civil litigation experience, preferably with exposure to medical malpractice, professional liability and/or insurance defense.
- Experience conducting depositions is preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.
- A strong work ethic and a genuine interest in developing litigation and deposition skills in the medical malpractice defense field.
