Senior Associate/Of Counsel Attorney – Medical Malpractice Defense (4-7 years)

Shaub, Ahmuty, Citrin & Spratt, LLP (“SACS”) is currently seeking a Senior Associate Attorney or Of Counsel with 4-7 years of litigation experience to join our Healthcare and Litigation Strategy team.  This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated attorney who enjoys handling complex litigation, working closely with experienced trial attorneys, and taking on significant responsibility.  Salary is $165,000 + commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting plaintiff and nonparty depositions in medical malpractice and other civil litigation matters.
  • Defending physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers at depositions, or developing the skills necessary to do so through mentorship and hands-on training.
  • Drafting and arguing motions.
  • Drafting pleadings and other litigation documents. 
  • Managing all phases of discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, document demands, and other discovery requests.
  • Attending court conferences, mediations and oral arguments, and communicating effectively with judges, court personnel, clients, and opposing counsel.
  • Working collaboratively with partners to develop litigation strategy and prepare cases for trial.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in the State of New York.  Admission to the federal courts is desired, but not required. 
  • 4–7 years of litigation experience, preferably in medical malpractice defense, healthcare litigation, or complex civil litigation.
  • Significant experience taking plaintiff depositions.
  • Experience defending client depositions is preferred, but candidates with strong deposition experience and a genuine interest in learning this skill are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters independently while working collaboratively with a team.
