Overview

Elizabeth Ashton supports the healthcare litigation team at SACS with strong research skills, a detail-oriented approach, and a commitment to thoughtful, effective representation. With experience spanning state government, a top international law firm, nonprofit policy work, and crisis-response advocacy, Elizabeth offers a unique perspective that enhances her work.

During law school, Elizabeth served as a legal aide in the Office of Counsel at the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG). In this role, she assisted attorneys across the state in administrative hearings involving Medicaid providers, supporting efforts to recoup overpayments and address improper practices. This experience strengthened her analytical skills and understanding of healthcare oversight.

Elizabeth previously worked as a senior corporate paralegal in the trusts & estates group at a white-shoe law firm, where she drafted estate-planning documents, coordinated with clients, financial institutions, and agencies, and assisted in pro bono matters involving housing, immigration, and family law. This role deepened her experience with complex documentation, sensitive client communication, and high-stakes legal processes.

As a grants and policy research fellow at a non-profit organization, Elizabeth wrote and secured national proposals for workforce development initiatives, analyzed Medicaid data to evaluate public insurance outcomes, and facilitated training programs for under- and unemployed individuals nationwide.

At SACS, Elizabeth draws on this diverse background to support clients through all stages of litigation. With a reputation for diligence, empathy, and sharp analytical thinking, she approaches every matter with thorough, strategic, and client-focused representation.
