Overview

Jillian Colombo brings a dynamic background to SACS, where she supports the litigation team with strong research, writing, and analytical skills. With experience spanning national First Amendment advocacy organizations, in-house legal departments, and newsroom reporting, Jillian offers a multifaceted perspective that enriches her work.  

In the Summer of 2024, Jillian served as a legal intern with the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in Washington, D.C., where she drafted complaints, memoranda, and amicus briefs on FOIA, shield law, defamation, and other media law issues. She assisted attorneys in litigation preparation, including depositions, oral argument support, legal research, and client meetings, and contributed to pre-publication risk assessments for journalists and news organizations.  

Jillian further developed experience in entertainment and intellectual property law as an extern with a full-service boutique pop culture agency.   

Earlier, Jillian completed a corporate and securities externship with a boutique New York law firm, drafting transactional documents related to loans, investments, employment, and film production. She prepared securities opinion letters, supported business incorporations, and helped initiate Regulation Crowdfunding campaigns, including preparing required SEC filings.  

Before entering the legal field, Jillian worked as an associate producer and anchor/reporter for WUFT News, where she led investigative journalism projects. 

Committed to community engagement, Jillian volunteered with the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, conducting research and organizing educational programming focused on reproductive rights and workplace equity.  

Jillian draws on this diverse professional background to support clients through all stages of litigation. With a reputation for clear writing, flexibility, and strategic problem-solving, she tackles each matter using both creative thinking and analytical precision.
